It might have been disappointing to find out that your printer cartridge was out of stock and you could not reorder it. However, you are not alone – everyone faces the same problem.
Delays are caused by a number of factors, but most of them are directly related to Covid-19.
The COVID pandemic has disrupted the supply chain in every industry, and printing supply is no exception. All manufacturers have been affected, including Kyocera and Canon.
During the Covid pandemic, offices around the world have closed and billions of people were forced to work from home. Two of the largest ports in the US: the Port of Los Angeles and Long Beach Port, two of the country’s largest ports, had to reduce their workforces.
In order to compensate for the reduction in ships, more containers were stacked, which caused longshoremen to spend more time unloading each ship.
Making matters worse, there are not enough truck drivers to transport the goods from the docks.
The shipping experts originally predicted that these delays would be resolved by the summer of 2021. However, you may have noticed that it is currently the winter of 2022, and the delays still continue.
It is expected that the delays will be resolved by the end of 2022; however, with new virus variants, these delays could be extended further.
